My baby girl has measles.
She is covered in tiny spots.
I spent three hours in A&E whilst they made sure it was just measles. Public Health England have had to be notified.
She is waking throughout the night. At times she is waking every thirty minutes, sometimes it’s every fifteen. We are both exhausted.
She is uncomfortable. She wants to be held constantly.
We are house bound for at least a week, probably longer.
I’ve had to cancel her first birthday party.
And all of this was preventable.

Well it has begun….
My return to work has begun. Slowly building up the hours. It sucks.
I know many of us are in this position. Returning when all we want to do is stay home and be with our child.
I’m trying to be brave.
It seems to me that wonderful Mother Nature woke up one morning and decided it was autumn.
I’m not complaining, I like the sunny days with the slight chill in the air. Woolly jumpers, hats, leaves.
It’s like living in a movie.

You never know what being a parent is until you are one.
I mean that in the widest sense. Biological or not, if you are the main the carer for a baby, a child then you know how hard it is being a parent.
